2020 SEIKO Prospex Save the Ocean Special Edition “Manta Ray” Automatic Wristwatch Diver’s Watch Ref. SRPE33

SEIKO Watch Co. – It is a Japanese company that specializes in the production of wristwatches, clocks, and electronic devices. The company was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, Japan. Originally named Seikosha, the company started out producing clocks before moving into the production of pocket watches in 1895.

SEIKO Prospex – Save the Ocean

From Seiko Watches website – “The Prospex mission: to help protect the world’s oceans now and for future generations, and to secure this legacy for divers everywhere. Seiko Prospex supports various marine conservation activities through its "Save the Ocean" initiative.”

Save the Ocean is a line of diving watches introduced in 2018 by Seiko. Save the Ocean line donates a portion of the proceeds to organizations that study and preserve the oceans. One such organization is the Ocean Learning Center of Fabien Cousteau, grandson of the famous underwater explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, with whom Seiko has collaborated on various initiatives. The watches have a design inspired by the streaks of humpback whales and the colors of the depths of the ocean.

King Samurai Save the Ocean
Special Edition “Manta Ray”
Automatic Wristwatch

From the Save the Ocean line of watches, Seiko introduced in 2020 the Manta Ray models: King Turtle and King Samurai, subsequently proposed in a different color and with silicone straps.

Today, we are offering the special edition Seiko Prospex King Samurai Save the Ocean “Manta Ray” automatic wristwatch reference SRPE33 (4R35-03W0) and dated from October 2020.

It is a self-winding watch powered by an original Seiko in-house automatic movement. It features the caliber 4R35, 23 jewels, day indicator, 41 hours power reserve, 21,600 bph, hacking mechanism, Japan made.

The Seiko caliber 4R35, released circa 2011, is used by Seiko Watch Corp. in their own branded watches. The 4R35 was considered to be an upgrade from the popular 7S26 movement as it offers the user the desirable hacking and hand-winding functionality.

Inspired by the streaks of humpback whales and the colors of the depths of the ocean, this watch features a deep blue dial adorned with swimming manta ray illustrations. White hour marker indexes and silver matching hands with LumiBrite on indexes, hands, and bezel. The date window is located at 3 o’clock and the dial is also signed with the Seiko logo/name, the Prospex logo, Automatic and Diver’s 200m.

This watch is cased in a 44mm all stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal with a date magnifier, screw-down crown, unidirectional rotating bezel. Solid scre-down case back with the signature Seiko wave engraving on it. 200 meters (660ft.) diver’s water resistant.

It is also fitted to the after-market bracelet – Strapcode 22mm Hexad-O “Boyer” 316L Staibnless Steel Bracelet. With three-fold clasp and secure lock, the bracelet will fit a wrist up to 7 1/4” (18.4cm).

This watch is coming on a Seiko zip-up pouch and a little oxygen tank decoration.

It is a very good looking watch. Runs very well and keeps great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
