The Waltham Watch Company, originally founded in 1850 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, was a true pioneer of American horology. Established by David Davis, Aaron Dennison, and Edward Howard, Waltham introduced the revolutionary concept of interchangeable watch parts, making high-quality timepieces more accessible while setting new standards of precision and consistency. Through innovation and determination, the company became one of the most respected watchmakers of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Waltham’s legacy includes iconic models such as the P.S. Bartlett, Appleton Tracy & Co., and Vanguard, highly regarded for their accuracy and craftsmanship. Even Abraham Lincoln is known to have owned a Waltham “Wm. Ellery” watch during the Civil War, underscoring the brand’s historical importance. Although production ceased in 1957, Waltham watches remain celebrated by collectors worldwide as symbols of American ingenuity and a milestone in industrial watchmaking.
